Nestled in the lush landscapes of Bahia, Brazil, lies a beacon of hope for the environment and local communities - a non-profit foundation dedicated to the protection and regeneration of tropical rainforests, coastal landscapes and mangroves. With a strong focus on disseminating environmental awareness, the Regenera foundation strictly invests into land acquisition for permanent reserves, natural bioma restoration projects and into ecological parks. Reconnection to nature and a regenerative lifestyles are focal points when it comes to the design of a Regenera project.

Regenera's conservation projects in south Bahia are nothing short of inspiring. Through strategic partnerships with private and institutional donors, the foundation envisions to make a real and tangible impact on the region's biodiversity and ecosystem health. By nurturing the rich natural resources of Bahia, Regenera is not only safeguarding the highly endangered Atlantic Rainforest, coastline and river mangroves, but also fostering a livable future for generations to come. The Atlantic Rainforest in South Bahia is the world’s richest in terms of biodiversity. It contains around 20% of the world's flora, including 627 species of endangered plants and should be protected by The Unesco World Heritage Convention. Nevertheless, due to the lack of government control, most of this protected areas are not safe from real estate speculation and illegal deforestation.
3 distinct Project Types

1 - Private Natural Heritage Reserves - Conservation
Regenera's flagship initiative is the creation of numerous private reserves called RPPN. The foundation acquires properties with wast areas of intact native bioma such as Atlantic Rainforest, Restinga and Mangrove and transforms them into Private Permanent National Reserves. Under Brazilian law these units are permanent reserves for any prospective land-owners. On properties under Regenera governance, exclusively scientific research, reforestation and restoration, small permaculture projects and ecotourism with educational purpose shall allowed.

2 - Ecological Parks - Education
Another key focus of Regenera's work is social inclusion in ecotourism. The foundation makes RPPN areas accessible to a broad public, especially to lower income classes, and offers experiences of deep immersion and powerful connection to the natural environment. Regenera also understands the importance of involving local residents in conservation efforts and empowers them to become stewards of their environment. By providing training and resources, Regenera ensures that communities are actively involved in the decision-making process and benefit directly from the preservation of their natural surroundings.

2 - Reforestation Camps - Restoration
Another important Regenera initiative are the Reforestation Camps which involve restoring degraded landscapes through reforestation and restoration programs. By planting a broad range of native species and implementing sustainable land management practices the foundation helps to rebuild ecosystems and create vital habitats for wildlife. These projects do not only improve the health of the environment but also incentive food safety solutions for local communities such as biodynamic permaculture gardens and agrosforestry.

In addition to its on-the-ground conservation projects, Regenera plays a crucial role in raising awareness about environmental issues. Through education and advocacy campaigns, the foundation spreads the message of conservation and sustainability, inspiring individuals and organizations to take action to protect our planet.
In Bahia, we face the pressing challenges through illegal deforestation, destruction of natural coastal environments and inaccessibility to fertile land due to real estate speculation. Regenera's conservation projects serve as barrier to this destructive and antisocial development. By fostering collaboration, innovation, and a deep respect for nature and all social classes, Regenera is knitting a patchwork of hope for the future.
